One person died while one person was injured in a road accident involving two motorbikes along Bondo- Kisumu road in Kisumu County.
According to Bondo Sub-County OCPD Winson Ndagwa, the motorbike Red Bajaj registration plate number KBF 542H that was heading to Ndori rammed into a Blue Honda that was coming from the opposite direction.
The Monday afternoon accident led to the death of the Red Bajaj rider, while one of his passengers who survived with injuries is receiving treatment at Bondo Sub-County Hospital in Siaya County.
“The Red motorbike had two passengers. We have launched investigations to establish the root cause of the accident,” said Ndagwa.
The survivor was identified as William Otieno, 21, a mechanic at Ndori centre.
“We were two in the motorbike when we left Bondo town. At Ndori junction, one gentleman had a blue Honda and just a few metres from the town, our bike was involved in an accident and I found myself at the hospital,” Otieno narrated.
The two motorbikes were towed to Bondo Sub-County Police Station.
Police are hunting for the Honda rider who is alleged to have escaped to avoid being assaulted by members of the public.
The police boss urged the motorbike riders to adhere to the traffic rules and signs while operating within towns so as to avoid accidents being caused by negligence and wrecklace driving.
