The Mijikenda-Kaya elders have caused drama along the busy Malindi-Mombasa Highway at Kizingo area by blocking the road. The area is considered among the hotspot areas which are prone to occurrence of road accidents.

According to Star Newspaper journalist, Oliver Mathenge, the Mijikenda-Kaya elders blocked the road for cleansing after 15 people died and several sustainable serious injuries in grisly road accident which occured on April 8, 2021. Traffic jam ensurede along the busy highway with several road users stranded.
