It a somber mood for a family in Kenya after five people were killed while others injured in a road accident while leaving a funeral. The accident happened on the Kilifi Mombasa highway. This was after a hearse hit on a truck.
According to a tweet by a citizen, the Kaloleni sub-county police Commander, Ezekiel Chepkwony said that the hearse was ferrying mourners from a funeral in Kitui while the trailer was heading in the opposite direction towards Mariakani.
The commander further confirmed that two people died on the spot while the other three were rushed to Mariakani hospital where they succumbed to injuries. The remaining five who had minor injuries were admitted to Mariakani hospital.
Ezekiel asked drivers to be extra careful and observe the road rules to avoid the cases of accidents that have recently risen in number.
May the souls of those who perished rest in peace.
