Police Officer Allegedly Shoots Former Councillor For Not Wearing A Mask

Former Kiptoror ward councilor Barnaba Lagat is fighting for his life at Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital in Eldoret Uasin Gishu county after a police officer shot him for not wearing a mask. The incident happened yesterday in uasin gishu county.

An eyewitness told K24 Digital that the officer who shot Lagat was drunk and re-sorted to use excessive force to enforce COVID-19 Guidelines stipulated by ministry of health.

Daniel chebet, an eyewitness, called for a speedy investigation by IPOA into the matter to bring the culprit to book. He said, “I appeal to IPOA to chip in immediately. We want the officer to be dealt with accordingly to deter the occurrence of similar incidents".

For a very long time, Kenyans have been suffering at the hands of police, people who are supposed to be protecting them. Many cases have gone uninvestigated with thousands of them pending in courts.

This has delayed justice to the affected persons and to the families who may have lost their loved one who was under police custody.
