Good News To Bar Owners As The Ministry of Health Revises COVID-19 Containment Measures

Health Cabinet Secretary Mutahi Kagwe has today announced that bar and restaurants across the country will now be allowed to run their services until 11pm or per the time stipulated in their operation licences.

Bars across the country have been operating until 7pm since president Uhuru Kenya issued that directive back in April this year.

Speaking during the daily briefing of the COVID-19 update in the country, Mutahi Kagwe was seeking to clarify the many questions Kenyans have been inquiring about since president Uhuru Kenyatta announced the lifting of the countrywide dusk to down curfew yesterday during the Mashujaa Day celebrations in Kirinyaga County.

Further, the National Police Service, had stated yesterday that bars would continue operating until 7pm per the directives issued by the president back in April this year.

Through their twitter handle, the National Police Service had stated the following:

"Following the vacation of the COVID associated curfew by H.E the President during MASHUJAA Day speech, existing measures on closure of bars by 7.00pm remain in place for now.

Enforcement of violation of this measure to continue."
