Several Safaricom customers have raised concerns over a series of promotional and marketing messages being sent to their line without their subscriptions. Most of these messages come from betting sites, promoters and gambling sites. Many Kenyans have also reported being conned after clicking on the links provided on the messages. For instance below is the most currently trending message. Please if you've received it, don't click on the link.
However, the big question is, where do these peopl get our numbers and who authorises these messages whtout the consent of the line holder? Safaricom has in several occassions failed to address these quastions, hopefully they'll work on it as soon as posssible. Meanwhile, lets work on what's possible, that is, stoping the messages from reaching our phones. Below are the steps:
2.Go to Otion 9 (STOP)
3.Then select Option 5(Marketing Messages)
4.Then Select Option 1 if you want to block a specific sender and Option 2 if you want to blaock all senders.
Safaricom will send you a message to confirm your deactivation from receiving those kind of message.
