Award-winning gospel artist and preacher Ruth Matete has revealed that her mother died when she was very young. Taking to her Instagram account, the former Tusker Project Fame Contestant said that her stepfather would subject her mother to physical abuse.
She remembered a day her stepfather beat her mother so badly and left her with life-threatening injuries that saw her admitted to the hospital ''My mother died when I was 8 years old. My stepfather beat her so badly and she was taken to the hospital because of the injuries,'' she wrote while reminiscing her childhood.
Her mother later died and her stepfather married another woman in Nairobi. The woman also later died.
The singer, while asking for prayers from her followers, narrated how her family has experienced people losing their spouses.
"My father was married to another woman here in Nairobi who also later died. My daughter’s father died two years ago. While in the ambulance after the accident, he told me he wasn’t gonna make it. I thought it was just fear. So I kept encouraging him that he would be fine," Ruth recounted.
She urged her fans to keep on praying for her family and thanked all those who always stand with her in prayers. Ruth further added that she has been praying for long life, following frequent cases of premature deaths in her family.
''In all these, I have been praying fervently to God for long life. Keep praying for me and my family,'' she added.
