Eight People earlier today died in an accident involving a trailer and a matatu along Nakuru-Nairobi highway near St.Mary's Hospital.
According to the sub-county police commander of Gilgil subcounty,the matatu was heading to Nairobi from Nakuru while the trailer was heading to Nakuru from Nairobi county,the driver of the trailer was trying to overtake another vehicle and he found the matatu coming from the opposite side and there they had a head-on collision and that is what brought about the accident that claimed the lives of eight people.
The accident occurred just a few kilometers from Nakuru town which is almost twenty minutes drive from Nakuru.The matatu was carrying nine passengers. It depatured from Nakuru four o'clock in the morning.
The bodies of the deceased have been taken to Gilgil subcounty hospital mortuary while two people who survived the accident are being treated at St.Mary's Hospital which is just a few metres from the place where the accident occurred ,one of the people who survived the accident is a driver of Mololine sacco who was going to Nairobi to pick his vehicle.
