The body of the late 36 year old Dickson Mugo who drowned while taking selfie pictures alongside his girlfriend in river Nyamindi, Kirinyaga; has been found. The unfortunate incident happened during the afternoon hours of Easter Sunday.
His remains were spotted by Mwea residents who in turn alerted the police. The police then took the floating body out of the water. The remains were taken to Kerugoya hospital mortuary; the same mortuary were the body of his female companion that had been retrieved earlier was also taken.
Reports indicate that on the day of the incident, the two arrived on a motorcycle at Mbiri village, then parked it under a tree before proceeding to the swollen river bank where they are said to have had a jovial chat while enjoying the scenic view. They then slipped into the river while taking photos and were swept away.
Millicent Ochuka who is Gichgu Sub-county DCI boss warns against getting too close to the river while watching it in order to prevent such misfortunes from happening.
