Police in Kericho burn bhang worth Sh1.2 million in street value before arresting woman driver

The contrabands were seized two hours ago by traffic police officers manning a roadblock along Kericho-Nakuru highway.

According to the traffic officers, the suspect was ferying the narcotics to Nairobi County using a white probox of registration number plate KCJ 530C.

Kericho County Police Commander Joseph Kigen who confirmed the incident said the 230 kilograms of bhang set ablaze infront of Kericho police station Commandant Samson Cherargei.

Mr. Joseph, the decision to burn the narcotics was to confirm to the press and other locals who had alleged that the narcotics migh find their way back to the hands of their owner.

The suspect, the driver, is curently locked up at Kericho town police station.

The torching follows sting operation on Chang'aa and other related drug substance within Kericho County and its environment last week.

During the burning of the drugs, members of the public were not allowed to have a glance as the drugs burnt down to ashes.

The police sent a warning to the members of the public to desist from taking part in the legal business urging that anyone who will be caught, will have themselves to blame.
