The latest development comes only hours after Agnes Tirop's lover Mr Rotich was on Monday arraigned before an Iten court.
The murder suspect appeared before senior principal magistrate Charles Kutwa but did not take plea.
Prosecutor Judith Ayuma ruled out that the suspect be detained for two weeks and 6 days to pave way for investigations into his case.
He is set to be held at Eldoret Police Station.
Kutwa also directed that a mental assessment be performed.
The case will be mentioned on November 9 for more directions. .
Mr Rotich was whisked away by DCI detectives after the court orders were read out.
Agnes Tirop was reportedly stabbed to death by her lover Ibrahim Rotich alias Manu, who police nabbed on Thursday in Mombasa while fleeing to the neighbouring country to evade justice.
The 25-year-old represented Kenya in the 5,000 metres at the Tokyo Olympics in the year 2021 and finished fourth in the final.
