One man was burnt inside his house by armed thugs who raided his home in a night attack. The man is reported to have been asleep during the attack when the arsonists torched his house, burning him to death.
The incident happened in Ruiri Rwa Ree area in Meru County. Confirming the incident, the police said that the man was guarding the home and he stays in one of the houses that was burnt. He added that the attackers seem to be people that know him as they targeted the place where he sleeps.
According to him, raiders had earlier attacked the home again but were unable to gain access into the main compound. They at that time shot the home's owner on the leg.
Witnesses said that the attackers burnt property of unknown value including church equipment and maize that the man had harvested. The wife to the deceased says that her husband died a painful death leaving her in languish with their children.
Police have launched an investigations into the matter to arrest perpetrators of the crime.
