Police Officers attached to Naivasha sub-county tallying station have ended their day inflicted with cold chills after one of their close colleagues contemplated suicide to his chagrin.
According to sources, during the incidence, the victim identified as Corporal George Morara was in company of his accomplices in the administration office waiting to be ferried to their polling station.
However, Morara who had other unnoticed plans excused himself before leaving the office and headed to another room where he attempted the unimaginable.
He withdrew his gun and pointed it on his chin before pulling the trigger attracting attention amongst his colleagues who scampered to the scene to feed their curiosity. Upon arrival, they found Morara unconsciously lying on the floor in a pool of blood.
It took their efforts to rush him to hospital for an emergency treatment and luckily he survived death by a whisker despite the fact that he sustained a serious injury on his face.
Confirming the incidence, a police report stated that, "Morara was found lying on the ground having shot himself through the chin and the bullet exiting the upper part of the nostrils using a sceska."
Among the trove of evidence recovered includes; a gun with a magazine of 14 rounds and one empty 9 mm cartridge.
Meanwhile, the region sleuths have launched a probe into the matter to establish the victim's motives.
