"We Took Photos Not Knowing That This Would Be Our Last Moment" Wife To Slain Recce Officer Narrates

Residents are still finding it hard to come to terms with an incident whereby a Police Constable stationed at Ruiru Camp wa attacked an killed by a gang in Mazembe, Nakuru County on Saturday evening.

Harrison Onywoki Onwonga, the deceased aged 30, was a recce squad officer until his demise. According to Faith Kemunto, Onywoki's wife, her husband had come from Nairobi to attend their son's graduation in Nakuru.

Kemunto recalls that enjoyed the graduation ceremony and even took photos not knowing that it would be their last moment together. “While at our son’s graduation ceremony, we took photos as a family not knowing that this would be our last moment together,” Kemunto told the press.

After the graduation, the deceased asked a friend of his to drop his wife and son home as he proceeded to town to meet his brothers Hezron Onwong’a and Morara Onwong’a to watch the ongoing World Cup football games at around 5 pm.

They were then attacked on their way home at around 10 pm by a gang of 7 men armed with blunt objects. Onywoki passed away to the injuries he sustained at the Nakuru Level Five Hospital while receiving treatment.

Confirming the incident is the Nakuru County Police Commander Peter Mwanzo who said that they have managed to recover the officer’s phone and three suspects are in custody in connection to the incident. He has promised to that justice will be served to the family of Onywoki.
