19 Children Killed In A Primary School And Dozen Injured

The world has woken up to sad news of a teenage gunman who, at the time of this writing, had killed 19 young children in a shooting at an elementary school in Texas on Tuesday. This is said to be the deadliest US school shooting in years. The attack which happened in Uvalde, Texas is the latest in a series of deadly shootings to occur in America.

Addressing the media in a news conference, Texas Governor Greg Abbott, said the 18-year-old lone gunman is believed to have shot his grandmother before going to unleashing the massacre to Robb Elementary School at around noon. It is said as soon as he reached the school compound, he abandoned his vehicle and entered with a handgun and a rifle. The gunman who is said to have been a student of Robb High school, just nearby, is said to have also killed a teacher.

The Associated Press news agency reports that a US Border Patrol official who was nearby when the shooting began rushed into the school and shot and killed the gunman, who was behind a barricade.
