Hanging behind trucks can pose a grave danger to other road users especially when the lorry travels at a high speed causing the perpetrators to lose grip
A 12-year-old boy paid the ultimate price for trying to pull a stunt on a moving lorry. The boy was ran over by the lorry he was trying to hitch a ride.
The lorry which was ferrying sand was heading towards Kariobangi from Dandora area.
Preliminary findings show that the minor jumped and hung on the rear side of the lorry to get a lift to Kariobangi. Unfortunately, the boy lost his grip at a bumpy area and dropped on the road. He then rolled ahead and under the lorry, which its tyres crushed him to death.
Eyewitnesses alerted the police who responded swiftly and moved the body to a local morgue as investigations continues
The act of men hiking lift at the back of moving trucks is not a new thing.
