Residents of Bogiakumu village in Kisii County reportedly woke up to a disturbing scene after two middle-aged men were found dead near a primary school in the area. According to a report by Citizen Digital, the victims appeared to have been beaten to a pulp before being hanged.
Their hands had been tied from behind and their trousers pulled halfway down. Kisii South County police commander Charles Machinji confirmed the incident and said the two were identified as Eric Ogega aged 25 years old and Canvas Magembe aged 22 years.
It is suspected that the two were killed in the wee hours of Monday morning. The police boss said they were alerted about the incident by members of the public and when they rushed to the scene, they found the bodies dumped near the school fence.
The two appear to have been hit by a blunt object somewhere in the head region because they were bleeding from their noses. Machinji condemned the murder incident and asked the residents not to take the law into their own hands.
Bodies of the deceased were taken to Kisii Teaching and Referral Hospital mortuary as police conduct investigations to find out the motive of the killing.
