There was panic and pandemonium in Waita GK Prison when gunshots from one of the staff quarters were heard overnight. The incident which involved a shooting incident led to the death of a woman and her one-year-old son after they were sprayed by several bullets over a disagreement.
According to K24 digital news platform, David Nduati who is a senior warder attached at Waita GK prison is said to have picked a gun from the armory and went straight to his house where his girlfriend Joyce Mwende Ngui aged 30 years was with her son and killed her in cold blood.
The situation led to a quick response from the prison guards who swiftly arrested and disarmed Nduati off his G3 rifle that was used in the murder. The government registered was taken by detectives for ballistic analysis while the bodies were picked and taken to the mortuary awaiting the government pathologist to carry out a postmortem. The suspect is in custody awaiting arraignment in court.
