The forty proverbial days were over for the 'Wash-Wash' guys in Eldoret after police officers in the area rounded them up before making an arrest. The criminals who engage in money laundering has been linked to car theft syndicate in the area.
Police arrested one suspect who had Sh1million in his possession put in a carrier bag and was also driving a private car alleged to have been got through theft. Court documents also show that the man was working in cohorts with rogue police officers in the Western region.
The suspect, Peter Kibet, who was driving a Toyota Premio car, was arrested after a tipoff from residents who suspected the car could have been stolen. The arrest was made in Eldoret along Nandi Road near Korosiot Hotel.
“We are piecing together information to establish all those involved in the syndicate. We will not spare anyone whether they are police officers or ordinary citizens, they will be subjected to the rule of law,” an officer who sought anonymity told Nation Africa.
