Incidents of robbery in the country have been on the rise with the government doing its best to ensure that the culprits are brought to book for their heinous crimes.
This afternoon, according to the available reliable reports that we have with us from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations, a Machakos Police Officer is behind bars after a robbery incident.
The police officer who is identified as Kevin Sila together with an accomplice had accosted two Machakos University students as they headed to their rented quarters on a bicycle last night as per the reports that we have with us.
One of the students managed to escape and call for help which attracted other students who live in the area as well as Machakos Police Station officers who came to the area.
Drama unfolded when the police officer attempted to escape after handing back the phone that he had stolen but it was too late as his colleagues from the Machakos Police Station arrived at the scene and arrested him and his colleague.
The officer and his colleagues are currently in custody and will be charged with robbery with violence once arraigned in court.
