Several are feared dead after a building collapsed trapping them inside. It's stated that one person died during the accident while others seriously injured. The building which was a project launched by the county governor Ottichilo is said to have collapsed 30 days after it's launch of construction.
The building, Vihiga funeral home located near the Vihiga referral hospital was under construction when it collapsed. Witnesses stated that the project was corrupted as the contractor used cheap materials in building the funeral home.
The Vihiga fire extinguishers in support with residents and the police have been trying to rescue the trapped workers as the deceased taken to the Vihiga county referral hospital mortuary awaiting postmortem.
The county government is said to release a statement as police launch investigations to get to the cause of the collapse. So far several who have been rescued were rushed to the hospital serving serious injuries.
