Police officers in Mavindini, Kathonzweni sub county of Machakos county were on Friday night forced to intervene and save a middle-aged woman from an angry mob.
Confirming the incident Makueni county commander Joseph Ole Napeiyan said that the woman aged 63 is accused of being a witch.
Furthermore, she is accused of killing her daughter-in-law using witchcraft.
The police commander said that the husband to the woman with the help of his son started beating the woman.
They proceeded to torch her house and on others belonging to her son.
Police were forced to intervene and save the woman from the family members baying for her blood.
However the husband didn't stop there, he organized neighbors and led them to Mavindini police post in a bid to take the suspect from the police.
This forced the officers to lob tear gas canisters to disperse the crowd.
The woman was later taken to Kathonzweni hospital for treatment while they hunt for the husband who escaped.
