A 46-year-old man has been arrested by security officers in Mwea town, Kirinyaga County for allegedly killing his 3-year-old lover.
The suspect, Simon Maina is said to have strangled his lover Jackline Irungu in her house on Tuesday night, May 24.
After reportedly committing the henious act, the suspect is believed to have summoned the neighbours and showed them what had taken place before running away from the scene of the crime.
The perpetrator was later nabbed in the same town by security officers at around 10:10pm. He Is currently under police custody in Wanguru Police Post awaiting to be taken to court.
Anthony Mbogo, the Mwea East Constituency Security Boss, confirmed the incident noting that the suspect may have murdered the lady because of a failed lover affair.
The suspect is a married man with three siblings and is a local trader in Ngurubani area while the deceased, a local trader in the same town.
The deceased body has been transferred to Mwea Mission Hospital Morgue in Karira.
