Major Twist in Child Killer Wanjala's Escape as Three Police Officers Are Arrested, DPP Takes Action

Three police officers who were on duty when Masten Wanjala, a suspected serial child killer, escaped are now in big trouble.

Inspector Philip Mbithi, the duty officer, and constables Precious Mwinzi and Boniface Mutuma Kamakia, both of the Jogoo Road Police Station, have been ordered by the Director of Public Prosecutions (DDP) Noordin Haji to be investigated by the police's Internal Affairs Unit (IAU).

The three police officers have been arrested and are being held at the Capitol Hill Police Station after being accused of assisting Wanjala's escape.

The three are accused of assisting in the eluding of lawful custody and failing to perform official duties in violation of sections 124 and 128 of the Penal Code

Wanjala, aged 20, escaped custody at Jogoo Road Police Station on Wednesday under strange circumstances.

The suspect has confessed to the murders of over ten children in Nairobi, Bungoma, and other parts of Kenya.

He was suppose to appear in court yesterday to enter a plea, but he was discovered absent during the morning roll call.
