Kirinyaga: Angry Villagers Kill Suspected Thief

Residents of Doba village, Mwea, Kirinyaga county lynched a suspected serial thief today.

According to one resident, 5 robbers started by robbing a club in a nearby village and later escaped. Then then managed to get into the village and broke into a business where they got away with stock, cash and several household items.

Angry villagers chased after the thieves and caught up with them. However, 4 managed to escape.

One of them was nabbed by the angry villagers who beat him thoroughly and lit a fire to burn him. By the time police arrived at the scene, he had already succumbed to the injuries.

Residents said there have been rising cases of theft in the area and urged the police to capture the remaining 4 suspects who escaped.

The body of the deceased was taken to Kerugoya county refferal hospital where it will be preserved awaiting identification by family members as investigations into the incident continue.
