A police officer was reported to have been found dead in Vihiga county inside his rented house. The officer who was identified as John Mwangi is said to have failed to report to work when one of his colleagues went to his house to check whether he was there.
Upon arrival, the officer knocked on the door a couple of times but there was no response. He noticed that the door to the house was locked from inside. This raised the officers' suspicion as it was not the deceased's routine to miss work.
The officer then had to peep through the window to ascertain why there was no response. He saw Mwangi lying on his bed upside down. At that time, the deceased was dressed in his civilian clothes. He called him but did not respond. He then informed other officers from Embali police station who broke into the house.
They found John lying dead with blood oozing out of his nose. The officers took his body to Mbale County Referral Hospital where it is waiting for an autopsy to be done on it.
