Heavy Exchange of Fire in City as Most Feared Katombi Gang Leader is Gunned Down by DCI Detectives

There was a heavy exchange of fire in the capital after most wanted gang leader and his members engaged DCI detectives who tried to arrest them.

The most feared Katambo gang leader that has been terrorizing city residents in the Starehe sub-county, was last evening gunned down by detectives, DCI has confirmed.

The thug, only identified as Ngaruiya, has been leading the outlawed group of thugs for many years until Monday when their 40th day clicked.

The gang had staged a robbing spree along Mau Mau road in Bondeni, Mathare sub-county, robbing a man his belongings at gunpoint.

Detectives heard about their mission and set up a trap for them.

However, drama ensued when the thugs were ordered to surrender when officers cornered them. The gang leader is said to have opened fire, leading to a heavy exchange of fire that lasted for several minutes.

Detectives managed to put him down after the officers outshined him in the field of aiming and shooting.

"A chase ensued as the detectives launched their assault against the gang members after they defied orders to stop. They ran in different directions as Ngaruiya fired at the fast-approaching detectives," DCI said in part.
