Relief to Bar Owners as Bar Operating Hours Extended

The government has clarified time that the bar and restaurant need to close after state of confusion following lift of dusk to dawn curfew on Wednesday.

In a press briefing on Thursday, Health CS Mutahi Kagwe announced that the time for closure of bars and restaurants has been reviewed and extended to 11 pm or time stipulated by their licences.

"We are reverting to closure of bars and restaurants at 11pm or time allowed by their licencing authorities,"said Kagwe.

Kagwe,however noted that other existing protocol on hand washing,social distancing and sanitising shall remain enforced.

This comes as a relief to bar owners who have been pleading with the government to extend operating hours to help them recover from effect of covid-19.

Since onset of COVID in march last year 15000 bars have closed,150 billon losses incurred and 250000 jobs lost.

The bar owners, however,pleaded to be included in recovery package as they were the most affected.
