Kasarani OCS confirmed the incident, saying that police launched investigations into the incident.
“Our police trailed the gangsters and cornered them before reaching Kasarani area. The gangsters were ordered to ground their firearms but, defied the orders and responded back by shooting the innocent law enforcement officers. This conduct made the officers to respond back killing two of them on the spot and wounding one of them who fled to unknown destination," He said.
During the scuffle, four Ceska pistol loaded with six rounds of ammunition were recovered from the fallen suspects, their gateway motorbike and two knives were also found hidden under an abandoned stall.
"We have launched investigations into the Sunday morning accident to establish their intended destination," he added.
The bodies of the deceased were transferred to Jomo Kenyatta University Referral Hospital mortuary for postmortem.
The latest development comes only two weeks when three armed men were arrested along the busy highway for allegedly assaulting a motorist.
