A middle-aged woman whose name is unidentified has been killed on the spot after a truck that was headed to Kisumu from Kericho run over her. The accident occurred near the Kericho-Kisumu Interchange past Kericho Town.
According to eye-witnesses, the woman was crossing the busy tarmac road when she was knocked down by the truck.
Angered by the incident, residents within the accident scene attempted to lynch the truck driver to death after he stopped the long vehicle on hitting the woman. Luckily, Traffic Police Officers arrived in time to save the situation. The body of the lifeless woman has since been moved to the Kericho County Referral Hospital Morgue.
Road accidents in Kericho County have in the past few years continue to rise. Motorists and pedestrians have often been asked to adhere to the road safety measures while using the roads. Most accidents have been brought by reckless driving, overspeeding among other negativities.
