The process for collecting the huduma number cards began some months ago. According to Kenya news agency on information for development, the government Spokesperson Dr Cyrus Oguna has said as at the moment, approximately 2.2 million out of the 37.7 million registered Kenyans for huduma number has been sent text messages requesting them to select where they would feel the best place to collect their huduma cards. Dr Cyrus Oguna said that out of the 2.2 million notified Kenyans is it's only about 30000 Kenyans who have picked their huduma cards with about 300000 responding to the send messages.
The government Spokesperson urged Kenyans to continue visiting huduma centers to collect their huduma cards. He further said individuals will continue receiving texts messages and to quote "Two SMS notifications will be sent out to all who registered for HudumaNumber to inform them the card is ready for collection. The first message will have a link, that once opened will prompt you to choose your preferred point of collection of the Huduma Card. The second message will notify you that the card is ready for collection and where to collect based on the choice you made when you opened the link on the first message,” Dr Cyrus Oguna said.
While giving the updates, he unveiled the following toll free number 0800221111 where individuals with huduma number collection queries can make consultations on. He further said that kids under 18 will only be given huduma number but will get their huduma cards upon reaching the age of 18 years.
