Government Agrees To Pay Out Ksh. 60m For Captured Escapees

The National Police Service (NPS) has confirmed that it will reward the Kitui residents who aided in the rearrest of the three Kamiti Maximum Prison Escapees last week.

Bruno Shiosho, the NPS spokesperson stated on Sunday that the government will subject potential recipients of the bounty to thorough scrutiny to ensure the right people get the Ksh. 20m promised for the arrest of each of the three.

"The government intends to honor its pledges to the cash reward offer. It will, however, be subject to a due verification process to make sure that the reward goes to deserving recipients", added Bruno.

NPS further stated that it will, however, not disclose information on the final recipients of the money because it may cause harm.

Interior CS raised eyebrows on Friday when he sounded non-committal on whether the government would give the ksh. 60m bounty.

In response to whether the government would give out the promised reward, the Interior CS said that he was not going there at that moment. He also urged people not to be speculative about it.
