The suspect in the murder of a 5-year-old girl identified as Hanifa Abubakar who was allegedly abducted and killed by her school teacher, Abdulmalik Mohammed Tanko led a combined team of operartives and detectives to the location where he had buried the minor for exhumation, Kano State Police Command reported.

The body was exhumed and taken to Mohammed Abdullahi Wase Specialist Hospital Kano, where it was examined and confirmed dead through poisonng by a medical doctor.

The Kano State Police Command apprehended the school teacher for abducting and killing the minor, despite collecting part of the N6m, which is equivalent to 1,652,495.59 Kenyan Shilling ransom money he demanded from her parents.
Spokesperson of the command, SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, who confirmed the arrest in a statement on Thursday, January 20, revealed that Tanko abducted Hanifa at Kawaji, in Nasarawa Local Government Area of the state on Saturday, December 4, 2021.

“The proprietor of a private school poisoned the child to death on December 18, after she recognized him. He then conspired with one Hashim Isyaku, and buried her body in a shallow grave located at the private school premises in Tudun Murtala Quarters, Nassarawa LGA,” the statement read.
The suspect is set to be charged in court upon completion of investigation.
