At around 9AM today on April 10th, the plane carrying the body of the former State House Comptroller Abraham Kiptanui and his family from Nairobi to Uasin Gishu county landed at the Eldoret International Airport ahead of his burial.
The white plane was a turboprop Dash-8 regional airliner of registration number 5Y-SMK as seen in the screenshot below.
In our little scratching around, we established that the turboprop regional airliner is owned by the Wilson Airport based 'Skyward Express' which was founded in the year 2013 and was purchased by the aviation company in 2014.
According to their website, Skyward Express was established in 2013 by a group of local pilots and investors and it operates from the aforementioned Wilson Airport as well as the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport using a fleet of Dash-8 and Fokker 50 aircrafts.
The most notable person at the aviation company is the below pictured Mohammed Ibrahim Somow who is the company's commercial director.
According to a 2015 article by Nation Media's Business Daily, Skyward Express was founded and is owned by three Kenyan pilots whose names are the aforementioned Mohammed Somow, Muhumed Abdi who acts as company chairman and Mr Isaac Somow who acts as the managing director.
Upon the arrival of the late Abraham Kiptanui's body at his Kipkabus home in Eldoret, the family rested for a while as they took some refreshments prior to the beginning of the funeral service.
Below are some photos that were taken during the body's arrival at home.
