A 24-year old man has left netizens talking after he allegedly killed his 47-year old mother, Mary Wanja by stabbing her on the neck and hand and injured his twin brother in Kiambu County.
Confirming the incident is the Ruiru DCI officer Justus Ombati who told The Standard that Wanja had travelled from Murang’a to Githurai to visit her twin sons, when a dispute arose between her and one of her children she had gone to visit.
“The suspect, Erick Kamau, left home on Monday 6pm. When he returned at 3am Tuesday, he picked a fight with his mother. During the dawn exchange, Kamau picked a kitchen knife and stabbed his mother in the neck and arm, killing her on the spot,” said Ombati.
The suspect, Erick Kamau also went ahead to stabb his twin brother, Derick on the abdomen when he tried to shield his mother.
Ombati says preliminary investigations indicate the suspect “has mental problems”.
Erick fled the scene after allegedly committing the crime, police said. Wanja’s body was moved to Kenyatta University Teaching, Referral and Research Hospital morgue.
Derick is currently receiving treatment at St. Francis Community Hospital in Kasarani.
Police Officers have launched a manhunt for the suspect who is still at large and they have requested the public to aid with information that may lead to the arrest of the culprit.
