A senior female police officer is one of the beneficiaries of the latest promotions of the high-ranking police officers at the National Police Service.
In the promotions, Ms. Muthoni has been elevated to the coveted rank of Senior Assistant Inspector General of Police from her previous rank of Assistant Inspector General of Police.
The promotion makes Muthoni one of the senior most female police officers in the NPS today. Currently, the experienced cop serves as director of police reforms at Vigilance House.
Before that, Muthoni had served as Traffic Commander, senior staffer at the powerful department of personnel at the Directorate of Criminal Investigations.
A former Deputy Provincial Police Officer (PPO) for the Coast region and Tourist Police Unit boss, Muthoni has risen from the junior rank to the third highest rank in the service.

A one-time instructor at the National Police Training College- Kiganjo, Muthoni is a renowned criminal buster. Thanks to her bravery, she helped crush the dreaded Mungiki gang when she served as Murang'a County Police Commander.
In the Coast region where she worked as deputy PPO, she was instrumental in the fight against Mombasa Republican Council ( MRC) militants.
An academic top achiever, Muthoni is a holder of a Bachelors degree in Criminology from Maasai Mara University and Bachelors degree in security studies from African Nazarene University.
Muthoni has also undertaken some short training programs at the University of Nairobi, Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology, Kenyatta University and Kenya School of Government.
She has also trained extensively on security matters in the United Kingdom and Botswana.
