5 Students Dramatically Arrested in Homabay Over School Arson

Five students linked to school arson have been arrested. Three of the students were arrested on Thursday afternoon following a fire that is suspected to have been started by them in their school dormitory.

The three are reported to have burnt the dormitory of Karabok Mixed Secondary School in Rachuonyo South Sub-county. The dormitory of 120 students capacity went up in flames after the students left for their evening preps. According to the school administration, no item was saved in the inferno.

A police investigation into the incident led to the arrest of the three who are linked to the evening tragedy. "Our investigations have led to the discovery of the three being linked to arson attacks," said the Homa Bay County Commissioner Moses Lilian.

The students were taken to Oyugis Police Station where they are being held for more interrogation as investigations into the incident intensifies. In another incident, two students from Ringa Boys High School in Rachunyo Sub-county are being held in Othoro Police Station following an arson attack in their school.
