A man accused of defiling a 9-year-old girl in Lamu County has been arrested and taken to police custody, awaiting to be charged with aggravated sexual assault of a child.
Joseph (Macharia not the real name) 66-year-old man, is accused of touching the girl at his residence in Lamu County, for two weeks consecutively when the mother of the child was not around.
The girl allegedly told investigators the house was near Mpeketoni in Lamu, and that she was locked up to sleep alone on the floor, when the suspect visits to defiled her during the night hours.
The girl reported that she was asleep when she felt someone touching her and turned to find it was Mr. Macharia. The girl said she “froze up” during the abuse and was afraid to report it when it occurred.
While speaking with citizens TV news at One, The parents of the victim said the girl got several injuries in her private parts, since the suspect seems to be forcing her during the act.
Confirming the incident, Lamu County deputy police commander in his statements said the suspect has been arrested and taken into custody, where he awaits to be arraigned in court once the investigation is complete.
