The family less knew that their kin had gone missing. According to George Gatonye nephew to the journalist, the family was not aware about the journalist going missing.
The journalist who lives in south B had gone missing for more than a month ego as per records from DCI Naivasha. The body of the slain journalist was picked by the police at Kihoto Naivasha a month ego.
"We went to the office on Wednesday and we were informed that the police had collected the of our relative a month ego at secluded place in Kihoto Naivasha", George said.
They went to Naivasha sub county hospital mortuary where they identified the body of Mr. John.
" It shocking to the family. We didn't know that he had gone missing since he is an introvert. He mostly kept to himself ", narrated George.
He admitted that the family was not aware for any threat to Mr. Gathura's life. " He had not expressed any fear for his life", he added.
From the look of things, it is believed that Gathura was strangled by unknown people. Reports from DCI Naivasha boss Mr. Adan Hassan, the body was discovered by worshippers who headed to the secluded place whom alerted the police on 26 October 2021. His body was identified through forensic investigation by the use of his finger prints.
