Alcohol Lovers Nabbed by Police Officers For Disobeying Curfew Rules

Forty people from Maralal town Samburu county were arrested on Saturday night after police contacted a crackdown on bars. It is believed that the bar was operating beyond the time that was allowed by the government and also they were not observing the protocols put in place.[Photo Courtesy]

According to Samburu central sub-county police commander Alex Rotich, he says that the suspects were arrested at around 11.30pm. He added that the bars were supposed to be closed at that time but it was shameful that the owners of the bars were operating very comfortably.

The suspects were carried to the police station where they will wait to face charges on violating curfew and the government regulation on controlling Corona virus. However, there are those suspects who secured freedom in police bond as they wait to be arraigned in Maralal court for failure to observe social distance.

The bar owners will also face a different charge from others which include operating beyond stipulated time. This comes a few days after health Cabinet Secretary Mutahi Kagwe clarified on the closing time of bar after there was a confusion between the different government organizations.
