Three people have been confirmed dead and six others underwent serious injuries after a building which was under construction collapsed in Maboleo area Kisumu county on Monday.
The bodies of the deceased were rushed to Jaramogi Oginga Odinga and referral hospital and the injured are treated in the same hospital where they are in a stable condition.
According to the eye witnesses, the two storey building collapsed when the workers were on the site and this sent fears of many people being trapped in the building. With the help of fire fighters and red cross team; many were rescued having minor or no injuries.
The eye witnesses added that, the building had visible cracks and it was just a matter of time before it fell down.
Musau added that they were surprised to learn that the construction commenced even after the warning. He confirmed the arrest of the contractor and promised to ensure that the law takes its action.
