A woman who was a table banking Treasurer in Machakos County is said to have ingested poison and later on died in the hospital following dispute with the chama over the missing monies.

According to the available reliable reports that we have with us from Machakos County, the woman had been missing for the past few days before she returned to her home and took poison.

60 year old Elizabeth Mumbua, is said to have died shortly after she was admitted at the Kangundo Sub-County Hospital in Machakos as per the reports available.

She was the treasurer of a table banking group in the area and had recently come under intense pressure to surrender 300,000 Kenya shillings which the members of the group had raised throughout the entire year.

Her husband Joseph Muya said that after the group had reconciled the books and found the money missing, she was ordered to reimburse the money.

She promised to return the money as soon as possible and left her home for three days which her husband thought she was out looking for the money.

Yesterday morning, she was found next to the cowshed where she had taken poison as per the reports that we have with us.
