A 16 year old girl has died after she was stabbed severally by a 27 year old man believed to be her lover. The man after committing the act also tried to commit suicide by stabbing himself on his stomach. However, neighbors rescued him and rushed him to the hospital where he is nursing serious injuries.
The girl was a form four student at Ngiluni secondary and was currently undertaking her KCSE examination. The incident occurred at Kisasi ward which is in Kitui rural constituency. The main suspect is a former trainee in the National Youth Service and hails from the same area.
Currently, the man is receiving medical attention at Kitui Level 4 hospital. Police have launched an investigation to determine the motive behind the act. The suspect is expected to be arraigned in the court to answer murder charges against the minor.
Residents have been urged to find better ways of solving differences between them rather than committing similar crimes. This will help solve the rising incidents of suicide acts.
