You Have 30 Days To Vacate If You Are Living In The Following Areas

Kenyans who have encroached on lands reserved for power transmission lines across the country have been given thirty days to clear from the wayleaves. The Interior cabinet secretary doctor Fred Matiang'i however has said that the clearance that will be coordinated by the county commissioners and the grass root based national governement administrators will be done humanely and with consultation with affected individuals. While addressing the regional and county commissioners, county Police commanders, senior managers of the Kenya power and lighting company and other power Parastatals, the Cabinet secretary said that the government was keen to ensure that the nationwide outages blamed in sabotage and vandalism that was witnessed early this month does not recur.

"We must work together to be a step or two ahead of these criminals. This is not about the ministry of interior or that of energy but the safety of our people.Working hand in hand will ensure that we deliver secure transmission and that our poeple have access to safe energy,"said doctor Matiang'i.The country was plunged into nationwide darkness when four pylons tumbled down in Embakasi after vandals reportedly tampered with critical parts of the installations.
