According to Okwama, the teacher had given lift to the student while on his way to school from Thika town when the accident happened, according to sources.
The Nissan matatu appeared to lose control before rolling off the road and down a slope, according to witnesses.
The teacher and the student sustained grievous bodily harm, and are being treated at Mater Hospital Thika Hospital.
The Monday morning accident delayed transport system along the busy road as other motorists were forced to divert to other routes.
Police have launched investigations into the Monday morning accident, according to Mr Okwama's reports.
He however, advised the drivers approach the area with caution.
The latest development comes only two days when two people lost their lives on the spot in a head-on collision that involved two vehicles.
