Machakos: Two Police Officers Arrested After Robbing University Student

Kevin Sila and David Muringu are said to have stopped two Machakos University students on their way to their rented apartments early on Monday morning.

Two Machakos police officers are in jail because they are accused of beating up a university student and stealing his cell phone and other valuables.

According to a statement from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), the police officers on the motorcycle then attacked one of the students "with resounding slaps as they ransacked his pockets."

"His roommate, on the other hand, barely escaped the attack and ran away screaming, drawing the attention of nearby students from the university," DCI wrote.

Students inside the building heard the student's cries for help and came to his rescue.

After giving back the stolen phone, the two cops tried to run away, but officers from the Machakos police station were already there and caught them.

The two people will stay in police custody at the Machakos police station until they are brought before a judge.
