A police cop from the presidential escort unit is among two suspects nabbed in Kutus trading centre in Gichugu, Kirinyaga County for allegedly kidnapping a 36-year-old businesswoman.
The officer attached to the Ruiru General Service Unit (GSU)Station alongside two others were nabbed after the businesswoman screamed out loudly attracting the attention of Kutus locals.
Gichugu Sub-county Police Commander Anthony Mbogo, said the trio were reportedly requested Mercy Wahu Njogu, 36, to give them money by transacting from a nearby bank when she screamed out loudly.
The police boss added that the officer Col. Samuel Mwangi Nyaga, 38, together with his friends Mathew Karanja, 35, and Wilfred Ngari, 38, kidnapped Wahu and bundled her into awaiting probox car.
The Gichugu police chief also revealed that the suspect was being prepared for dismissal from the service.
"The officer was dismissed from the national police service according to National police service act," said Mbogo.
The three officers were taken to Gichugu law courts on Tuesday at 4pm where sleuths were ordered to grill them for one week. They will be taken to court to on November 23, 2021.
The culprits are now detained at Kianyaga police station.
