A woman identified as Gladys Chelule and her three year old daughter died on Saturday night after drowning. Chelule was heading home after attending a party to celebrate a new born child in the neighbourhood. The 28 year old and her child drowned while trying to cross the flooded Kiplesan water stream in Bomet East Bomet County. According to Stanley Towett the chief of Kiplabotwo, the woman might have underestimate d the strength of the flowing water because she had used the same crossing path in the morning. The waves were so strong that their bodies were found 69 metres away from where they fell trapped between tree branches along the stream banks. Their bodies were removed from the water and taken to Longisa county mortuary for burial preperations. The residents in the area were also warned not to risk their lives crossing the river after heavy rainfall or when it is flooded.
