Two Mobsters Shot Dead, Firearms And Atleast Sh1.13m Recovered After A Heavy Gunfight

Two armed thugs have been shot dead and two assault rifles recovered following a fierce shootout in Kigumo, Murang’a county. Sounds of fierce gunfire rat-a-tat-tat-tat! punctuated by screams from hyenas and other wild animals echoed through the surrounding bushes as police engaged the suspects in a gunfight that lasted for over two hours.

According to a police report, the robbers had staged a robbery at a local petrol station and a nearby bank before they were intercepted by security personnel. The robbers, who were heavily armed with AK-47 rifles, started firing at the police officers, leading to a fierce exchange of fire.

The police managed to neutralize two of the suspects, while the others managed to escape with injuries. The two deceased suspects were found with several rounds of ammunition, two assault rifles and atleast Ksh1.13 million.

Residents in the area expressed their relief at the swift action taken by the police, noting that incidents of armed robberies had been on the rise in recent weeks. Murang’a County Commissioner, praised the security forces for their bravery and urged residents to continue cooperating with them in order to rid the county of criminal elements.
