However, when a child goes missing, every second counts.
The biggest fear, for parents and authorities is always that the child might be defiled, murdered or both.
Any family can lose a child. However, in most cases, the families do not get the support that is needed.
With each passing day, parents struggle to come to terms with the fact that their children are at risk of disappearing.
Children, both young and old continue to disappear under mysterious circumstances. 
Today, Elvine Wambui Waweru was reported missing from their Ithenguri home in Nyeri County.
Elvine reportedly home going to buy credit but never came back.
A search for her has been on but all this has proved futile.
Her family members are now in Nyeri now appealing to members of the public with information regarding her whereabouts to report to the nearest police station.
